Uncovering the possibilities of personalized medicine through research

Exciting news for LCRF research grant program
2019 is a VERY exciting year for LCRF’s research grant program – we have added two new funding mechanisms this year alone! LCRF recently announced the awardees of our 2019 research grant focused on lung cancer disparities, and we will be supporting three projects focused on the management of targeted therapy side effects for non-small cell lung cancer patients. Stay tuned to hear additional details about our 2019 research grants in the fall.

New Scientific Advisory Board chair
Two-time LCRF grant recipient, Dr. Katerina Politi, has been named the chair of LCRF's Scientific Advisory Board, taking over the role for Dr. James B. Dougherty. Dougherty, who held the chair position for 14 years, has been instrumental in the growth of LCRF and our grant program.

FDA Approves SCLC Treatment
On June 17, 2019, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab (Keytruda) for second or third-line treatment of patients with metastatic small cell lung cancer (SCLC).

'Cancer picked the wrong girl!'
Felicia suffered with breathing issues and spent three days in the ICU, but her symptoms weren't improving. When she finally had a scan, it revealed a fist-sized tumor. "I felt like my whole world had crashed," she said.
