New Scientific Advisory Board members
LCRF welcomes five new members to its Scientific Advisory Board: Shirish M. Gadgeel, MD; Aaron Hata, MD, PhD; David MacPherson, PhD; Taofeek Owonikoko, MD, PhD; and Rocio Sotillo, PhD. The SAB's primary purpose is to review, evaluate and select lung cancer research proposals worthy of financial investment.

LCRF Together connects community
Patients, caregivers, and others interested in lung cancer research gathered in Tarrytown, NY last month to hear about the latest developments in lung cancer. Brendon Stiles, MD, and Balazs Halmos, MD, MS, from Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center joined moderator Isabel Preeshagul, DO, MBS, for a a compelling conversation about important topics including screening, next generation sequencing, targeted therapies, and antibody drug conjugates. On May 15, Chicago area supporters will have the opportunity to hear from Mary J. Fidler, MD; Christine Bestvina, MD; Rajat Thawani, MBBS; and LCRF CSO Antoinette Wozniak, MD.

Gala to honor Dr. Mark Kris
LCRF will honor Dr. Mark G. Kris at its 3rd annual Evening of Innovation Gala on September 24 at the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan. Dr. Kris’s impact at the Lung Cancer Research Foundation spans decades, and his accomplishments over the last four decades have transformed lung cancer care both nationally and internationally. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available for this prestigious event at LCRF.org/gala. Proceeds benefit lung cancer research.

Veteran raises awareness of lung cancer in the military
When Xavier found out he had stage 4 lung cancer, he thought of all the deployments where he was exposed to burn pits, hazards, and chemicals. He decided to do everything he could to help other service members navigate an unexpected diagnosis like his own.
