About Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is a malignant tumor that forms in the tissues of the lungs, usually in the cells lining air passages. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are the two main types of lung cancer. Treatment options vary depending on the type and stage of lung cancer, but can include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and/or targeted therapy.

If you have lungs, you can get lung cancer.

Lung cancer is often diagnosed in a late stage, at which point it is difficult to treat. More research devoted to early detection and prevention will be key to diagnosing and treating lung cancer in its early stages, when there is a far greater likelihood of success.
