Help me increase lung cancer survival!
Today was a day that dreams are made of.
Today I went to Moffitt for my quarterly lab work and scans to make sure the drug I am on is still working and that it hasn't become toxic. Most cancer patients have a schedule. Every 3,6 or 12 mos. The anxiety begins to creep in as much as we try and push it aside. For the most part I am pretty successful. This time I just felt it was going to be a good scan, other than my migraines and aches and pains I have felt pretty good.
My labs according to my oncologist were perfect. My liver and kidneys are handling everything fine.
My scan was even better, there was no measurable tumors, there is a term for that NED or No Evidence of Disease - its the ultimate goal for most cancer patients especially those of us cure is highly unlikely.
Without Lumakras I would not be NED. Realistically the shape I was in before I started it, its possible I may not still be here. I am here for one reason and one reason only. RESEARCH - and we need more of it. Every month my contemporaries are taking their last breath. Every month husbands and wives, sons and daughters, parents and grandparents are saying goodbye to their loved one.
KRAS Kickers a community of which I am a member of and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation have joined hands to create a fundraiser to generate funds for a grant for KRAS specific lung cancer research. I started with Chemo & Radiation which was standard therapy just 4 short years ago and I had progression. All of the drugs I have been on since then were approved since my diagnosis except the 1st one, without those drugs I would not still be here today.
Please find it in your heart and pocket book to donate to this worthy cause be it $5 or $50 every dollar helps - Thank you - L
