On August 11, 2008, my father, Bill Colvin, was diagnosed with Stage III lung cancer. After enduring radiation and chemotherapy treatments for the next year and a half, we were devastated to learn that the cancer had spread. Six weeks before my high school graduation, we said goodbye to a wonderful father, and grandfather, on March 30, 2010. And in the summer of 2010, I discovered Free to Breathe (now the Lung Cancer Research Foundation).
The Lung Cancer Research Foundation is an organization dedicated to improving lung cancer outcomes. Their mission is to ensure surviving lung cancer is the expectation, not the exception.
If you are interested in joining my family and I to help promote lung cancer awareness, feel free to register under team name Danish Dynamite (Registration is FREE!). Would you help me to reach my fundraising goal this year? Increased funds are essential as we continue to make huge strides in immunotherapy and targeted therapies, which currently are helping even those in Stage 3 and Stage 4 live longer and live more comfortably.
This year's virtual walk is October 3rd, 2020. Please consider joining us on event day!
Lung cancer can affect anyone. But with our help, new clinical trials and treatments are being developed all the time and together we will eradicate this terrible disease!
Will you help me in this fight?
