Help me improve lung cancer outcomes!
I will be participating in the Lung Cancer Research Foundation's 2020 Free to Breathe event in my city and raising funds to increase the odds of surviving lung cancer. Please help me reach my fundraising goal and donate today.
My personal connection to this cause is to honor my aunt Kathy who was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer back in March 2011 and lost her battle with this devastating disease in November 2011. She was an amazing example of a "fighter" as she battled through her cancer with a positive attitude and upbeat outlook, even during some of the toughest moments. Besides honoring her memory by participating in this event, I want to be part of the movement to raise monies so that this disease receives the same attention all other cancers have received in regards to overall awareness and research efforts.
Since Kathy's fight with this disease, a close friend lost her mother to the disease, a colleague/friend lost his mother, a family friend lost his wife, and my father-in-law lost his brother to lung cancer as well. Several others close to our family circle have also endured loss from this horrible disease. It's a disease that affects anyone with lungs; it does not choose smokers over non-smokers. Even scarier is that it's very difficult to diagnose at an early stage; therefore, most cases are not discovered until it has started to spread and diagnoses are typically Stage III or Stage IV. This particular cancer especially deserves A LOT more attention!
Helping those affected by lung cancer is a high priority in the movement to defeat lung cancer and I need your support to make a difference. Lung cancer claims more lives than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney and melanoma cancers COMBINED, making it the clear leader among cancer deaths in America. Over 440 lives are lost to this unpredictable disease EACH DAY. The Lung Cancer Research Foundation event that I am participating in will raise awareness of the disease and funding for vital research.
Thank you so much for your support! If you know of someone else who would like to donate or join our team, please forward this link to them.
