Welcome to My Fundraising Page
You know my story: Spring 2010-cough and a wheeze, lots of tests, day before my 57th birthday - "It's lung cancer." Talk about a gut punch! My left lung was removed, followed by four nasty rounds of chemotherapy. We honestly thought I had beat it.
Then three years later, it had spread to my left hip; radiation seemed to do the trick. THEN three years after that, it was back in the same hip. This time I had to trade in my painful hip for a titanium replacement. This is also when I started on a drug made especially to suppress the ALK mutation that was causing the spread of the cancer.
I had a 30-month ride with Xalkori, but this past January, it failed me. The lymph nodes in my lower back lit up like a Christmas tree. Lucky for me, there was another targeted therapy waiting. Now I'm taking Alectinib. After just 3 months, the tumors have shrunk by at least 80%!!!
I use the word 'lucky' very loosely. I'm blessed. Your prayers and science have given me a great quality of life. I'll hang on until they find a cure for this beast.
Please consider a contribution to Lung Cancer Research Foundation. They are all about research and have an excellent rating from Charity Navigator.

Much love, Gail
