Help me improve lung cancer outcomes!
This year's Chicago Lung Run, scheduled for Saturday October 2, will be a virtual event for the second consecutive year.
I remember DonnaLee and I at our first Lung Run in 2010 shortly after her diagnosis, and meeting members of our oncology team for the first time. Connecting with your team/community is a powerful experience and I feel sorry that there are families that are unable to be together due to the pandemic.
I was looking forward to this year's event as a time to revive our tradition of being together for the run/walk and going out for brunch after. I guess if we have learned anything over the past year and a half it is that we have to be flexible and open to new ways of doing things.
The Lung Run is always an important time for me, keeping my promise to DonnaLee to maintain Team DL while joining with family and friends to keep DonnaLee's memory alive.
Funds raised in this event go toward lung cancer research. DonnaLee was the beneficiary of cutting edge drugs that helped her thrive for over six years. Time that was used to be with family and friends, travel, and help others. I am forever thankful for my time with DonnaLee and want to give others the same opportunity.
Even though we will not be able to be together in person again this year, I encourage everyone to be creative and participate in a personally meaningful way. Runs, walks, calling a loved one, or random acts of kindness are all wonderful ways to support the cause and remember DonnaLee. Please feel free to share photos and stories.
Together we make a difference. Please join us now!
