2019 Strides for Life - GKS
Once again I plan to participate in the Lung Cancer Research Foundation's 14th Annual Strides for Life! Strides is a 3 mile run (or walk) around the lovely Lake Agawam in Southampton on Sunday, August 11th.
In 2008 Team JPS (named for my late father, J. Phillip Snyder) participated in it's first Strides for Life race. We were just a small team of 3 and have now grown into something I never could have imagined.
Losing my Dad in just 6 short weeks to Lung Cancer in 2001 changed me life forever. I miss him every single day and when I found out about Strides I knew that it was the perfect way to honor him - doing something I love to raise awareness for the terrible disease that took his life.
In 2014 my dear friend Dana and her family suffered the terrible loss of "Bubbles" and I asked them to join our team. In the years since, Team JPS Bubbles has raised ~$75,000 on behalf of LCRF, raising awareness for this terrible disease. I am honored that every year my friends and family participate and donate to this cause which I hold so dear. I know the money we raise won't bring my Dad or Dana's Nannie back to us - but I can only hope that it helps to shed more light on how to cure this disease. I can only hope that one day, lung cancer will be a thing of the past. So please consider joining our team (they even have races for the kiddies on the lawn) or making a donation - your support means the world to me and to Team JPS Bubbles!
