I am running the New York City Marathon for the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in honor of my mom, Ann Pontius. My mom is my best friend and my greatest role model, when I was a senior in college she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Our family was lucky enough to have caught it early and she has been cancer free for almost 4 years. It was the scariest time of my life and every check up she goes to my heart is still in my throat terrified its come back. I am running to not only honor my mom, but also knowing that my family's situation is very rare and there are so many families who are not as lucky.
