Dr. Stiles for #ResearchBeatsCancer
Our team is taking a stand against lung cancer, and we hope you'll stand with us! Together, we can make a difference to those affected by this devastating disease. We can show the world that it’s time to make surviving lung cancer the expectation, not the exception.
My name is Brendon Stiles, and I'm a thoracic surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center. I'm also the chairman of the board of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF). To me, what makes LCRF unique is its commitment to top-notch lung cancer research.
I lost my dad to lung cancer in 2005. For me, one of the most amazing things has been to see the progress we've made since then. When he died, we didn't have lung cancer screening, we didn't have targeted therapy, we didn't have immunotherapy – we've got all those things now. There's never been a more exciting time to be working with lung cancer, specifically because of all these breakthroughs that have happened in the last nine to 10 years. I think my dad would be proud of that progress... I think it's really amazing to look back and think how much progress we've made in such a very short period of time.
There's still much work to be done. Here's how you can help:
- Donate to a team member to support our fundraising efforts (click a name to go to their page)
- Click on the “Join” button to join our team at the Brooklyn Free to Breathe Walk on Sunday, October 20
- Spread the word about our fundraising efforts by sending the link to this webpage to everyone you know
Together we will support LCRF and its mission to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer. Help us bring hope to those affected by lung cancer.
Please donate today and invite a friend to do the same. If you are able to sign up and "Walk with the Doc," we’d love to have you! We can’t wait to celebrate our successes with you on event day.
