2023 Free to Breathe Anywhere Walk

Joli's Team

“You really can change the world if you care enough.” – Marian Wright Edelman

Joli Mallick passed away on February 6th, 2010, after a fourteen-month battle with lung cancer. Like a growing number of lung cancer patients, she never smoked and maintained a healthy lifestyle; yet she received a Stage 4 diagnosis when it was already too late for a full recovery.

Joli chose to support the National Lung Cancer Partnership  (now the Lung Cancer Research Foundation) because of its focus on research, education and awareness related to lung cancer. At a house party in the summer of 2009, we asked our friends for the first time to support the organization. Later in November, 2009, even though her health had begun to deteriorate, Joli formed her own team to participate in the Free to Breathe Walk.

Since 2011, Joli's Team has honored her memories by participating in the Free to Breathe Walk. We are so proud of the dollars we have raised for lung cancer research.  This year, we are proud to participate in the Virtual Free to Breathe Walk

The LCRF Free to Breathe Anywhere Walk will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:30am Eastern, 9:30am Central.

While tremendous progress is being made to discover new causes of lung cancer as well as lifesaving treatments, helping those affected by lung cancer remains a high priority and we need your support to make a difference. Lung cancer claims more lives than breast, prostate, and colon cancers COMBINED, making it the clear leader among cancer deaths in the U.S. We want to change what it means to receive a lung cancer diagnosis and we are raising funds to support the Lung Cancer Research Foundation and its mission to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer. Please boost our efforts by making a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation through a team member's fundraising page; it's simple and secure. And, we also encourage you to join us on event day!

Here are three ways you can join us in making this vision a reality:

  • Donate to a team member to support our fundraising efforts – find the team list on the right side of this page
  • Click on the “Join” button to join our team
  • Spread the word about our fundraising efforts by sending the link to this webpage to everyone you know

With your donation, you will join a passionate community of lung cancer patients, families, advocates, doctors and researchers dedicated to saving lives and inspiring hope.

Many thanks for your support and generosity! If you know of someone else who would like to donate or participate, please forward them this link!

Sincerely,

Suman Mallick and Susan Swanson
