Welcome to My Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page! The details of how I found passion in becoming a lung cancer advocate are below. Some of you reading this have supported me over the last three years and have heard the story! Some of you may read it for the first time today! I am forever grateful for all of you and how we come together to make a difference in someone's life! We can't bring my mom back, but we can certainly impact the lives of those that are dealing with this horrible disease right now.
$100 funds 1 hour of critical research...imagine the day that that one hour extends & saves someone's life!
About 8 years ago, I met Susan Smedley through our boys love of sports. Susan is one of those people that I instantly connected with...and as we got to know each other and she shared her lung cancer survival story with me I was compelled to participate, in support of this beautiful soulful friend, in the early yoga events & fundraising that Free to Breathe offered here in Madison.
Then in October 2015, I got a phone call from my Dad, while I was standing in the O'Hare airport traveling for work, and learned of my Mom's stage 4, and as they said terminal, lung cancer diagnosis. In shock, I called Susan and then I called my sister, my husband & my brother. I knew that Susan would know what to say and where to point me, so that I could point my family somewhere too. For the 2016 Yogathon, I created Team Tweety in honor of my Mom, who at the time of the event was still living with stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma lung cancer...after one very rough chemo treatment in Nov 2015, she chose quality over quantity. We lost Mom on September 4, 2016.
Team Tweety will represent again this year, in memory of everything she stood for - we know she is watching from above and will offer love and guidance to all of us as we look to raise awareness of and funds for the amazing work that LCRF does to fund research to increase the 5 year survival rate above the current 18%.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity! Together, we can all be Free to Breathe.
In friendship, with love & light, Jo
