On Saturday, October 2nd 2021 at 11:00am, we will be participating in the Lung Cancer Research Foundation's 2021 Free to Breathe event to honor our friend, Frank Noll. We will meet inside the Greenwood Avenue entrance of Prospect Park at 11:00am. Come run, walk, ride your bike, or be a cheerleader. Support us as we support Frank and the 235K people who will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year, up to 20% of whom are people who have never smoked. Frank was a NON-SMOKER.
Frank is a 7-year lung cancer survivor. At age 62, Frank, a competitive runner, cyclist and triathlete, received a CT scan to check for injuries after a bike fall and found the unrelated lung cancer. Frank was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer with a median survival of 4-10 months and a 5% chance of surviving 5 years. After his diagnosis, Frank was shocked to learn about the lack of funding for research due to the stigma attached to smoking. It is not well understood that if you have lungs, you can get lung cancer.
Over the years, Frank has helped raise funds for research. He is an advocate and a lobbyist, meeting with legislators at Capitol Hill to advocate for early screening, general research and research dollars. Although he has had several setbacks, he remains a warrior and our hero.
Our team is taking a stand against lung cancer and we hope you will stand with us. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE to those affected by this devastating disease. We can show the world that it is time to make surviving lung cancer the expectation, not the exception.
Please join our team. We would love to have you onboard. There is no fee to register. Make a donation if you can. Any amount helps and is deeply appreciated. Spread the word about our fundraising efforts. If you would like to participate, donate, and/or volunteer, or have any questions, please call Gerri Cassone, Team Captain, at 718-887-5366. You can donate online or bring your checks to the event on October 2, payable to: Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Our goal is $3,500.00.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal and donate today. You have the power to give families hope when a loved one is facing a lung cancer diagnosis. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity. Together, we can make a difference for each and every person whose life has been affected by lung cancer.
